Originally from Papua New Guinea, the mushroom plant is a fast growing and bushy herb. The leaves can be added to dishes to impart a "savory mushroom flavor" to your meal. The bush has beautiful green glossy leaves contain large amounts of iron, calcium, vitamin C and beta carotene. Use Rungia in salads, soups, stir fry’s, sauces and sandwiches. The flavor increases when cooked but must be added at the last minute — like many leafy greens, overcooking will result in the leaves losing color.
This herb can grow in shade or partial shade and will do fine in a pot.
