Bright Lights
25 days baby, 50 days mature
Bright Lights Swiss Chard is a gorgeous variety with gold, pink, orange, purple, red, and white stems.
Use at the baby stage in mixed salads or full size for cooking. Either way, it has is lightly sweet and delicious. Even the stems cook up tender and sweet.
You can harvest the larger outer leaves, or simply cut the entire plant an inch or two above ground. Either way, you will be harvesting delicious fresh greens all season long, even in the heat of summer.
This start comes as a 6-pack, and you get 12-24 seedlings per 6-pack, making this a terrific deal!
When planting, separate the individual pots by tearing or cutting them apart. (Even though the Fertil pots are biodegradable, cut off the bottom of the pot with a sharp knife before planting it in the ground so that the roots will be able to find all the water and nutrients they need.) Plant each small pot about 6 inches from the next. Make sure that the top of the pot is completely under the soil line and putt a small amount of soil on top of it and press down. Water well immediately after planting.
You may also plant chard in a large container, separating pots and planting about 6 inches apart.
