Gran Sasso

$5.50
Out of Stock

Indeterminate - 80 days

This great old Italian tomato is wonderful for making a meaty tomato sauce. It comes from the area near Gran Sasso – a mountain in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. This is a large, 6-12 oz., plump red pear shaped tomato with vertical ribs. The fruits are meaty with almost no seeds and taste good when fresh but are usually used as a cooking tomato – great for roasting, juice making, salsa, or sauce. Production is good on vigorous plants, even in heat and right up until the end of the season. I save my own seeds for this rare variety.
