Trophy

$6.00

Indeterminate - 80 days

We really like this solid, juicy, slightly sweet heirloom tomato that was introduced in 1870 by Colonel George E. Waring, Jr., of Rhode Island. He sold the seeds for $5 per packet (equivalent to about $80 today), and gardeners paid the exorbitant price hoping to win the $100 grand prize at the local fair.

Each plant produces a good amount of medium-sized (5- to 12-ounce), red, slightly flattened-globe-shaped fruits. They are ideal for slicing and eating fresh, as well as for canning or making sauce.
